We were approached by our clients to design a block of high-end flats in the vibrant area of Walthamstow. The project involved the conversion of a vacant commercial building on a street within close proximity to local amenities and public transportation.

Originally constructed in the early 1980s, the building lacked character and was primarily functional in design. However, we completely transformed the building through a full internal reconfiguration. The team created a dramatic communal stairwell and spacious apartments, featuring full height glazed sliding doors and pivot windows.

The external appearance of the building was also significantly improved through the addition of a zinc-clad rooftop extension, which houses the top floor duplex unit. The previous glazing articulation was updated with new glass and hardwood inserts within the recesses, resulting in a striking and modern design that perfectly complements the vibrant character of Walthamstow.

This innovative use of an existing building has resulted in a profitable and attractive small residential development that will undoubtedly be highly sought-after by those looking for a stylish and contemporary living space in the bustling area of Walthamstow.
